A FreeShow alternative for churches
FreeShow is open-source presentation software installed on a Windows, Mac or Linux computer, with a remote and stage screens over the church’s network. Chapel Screen keeps the service online instead, so volunteers prepare it together from home and run it from any device on the day.

What Chapel Screen does differently
- Nothing to install
- Chapel Screen runs in the web browser. The booth computer, a TV, a tablet on the lectern and the phones in the pews are all screens once they open a link — no software to install or keep up to date on each one. Learn moreabout nothing to install
- Slides made from your words
- Write or paste the words and Chapel Screen makes the slides: it decides where each one breaks and fits the text to whatever screen shows it, a projector, a TV or a phone. No slide-by-slide layout to do by hand. Learn moreabout slides made from your words
- Songs as slides, or scrolling
- Show a song a slide at a time, or as one continuous scroll that glides from line to line as you go, the current line picked out. Either way, from the same words. Learn moreabout songs as slides, or scrolling
- Volunteers edit together, from anywhere
- The worship leader, the preacher and the tech team work on the same service at the same time, from home or from the front, and see each other’s changes as they happen. A visiting speaker gets a link instead of a USB stick. Learn moreabout volunteers edit together, from anywhere
- Several screens from one service
- The sanctuary screen, a stage screen, captions over the live stream and a bulletin on every phone, each with its own theme and layout, all following one person at the controls. Learn moreabout several screens from one service
- Quick slides during the service
- Type “John 3:16” or a song’s title and it is on screen in seconds, with the copyright notice and your CCLI licence number on every song slide. Learn moreabout quick slides during the service
- Prepare with an AI assistant
- Connect Claude, ChatGPT or another assistant and ask it to build Sunday’s presentation from your notes, from a PowerPoint file or from a passage in an online Bible, or to add the songs to tonight’s event. It reaches only what you allow and cannot delete anything. Learn moreabout prepare with an ai assistant
What FreeShow does that Chapel Screen does not
No tool is right for every church. If one of these matters to yours, FreeShow may suit you better.
- Video output over NDI and Blackmagic hardware, MIDI and OSC control, and streaming from the program.
- Importing PowerPoint files and shows from other presentation software itself. In Chapel Screen an AI assistant builds a presentation from a PowerPoint file, or you paste the words in.
- It is open source, and runs on one computer with no internet connection.
As its makers describe it, checked in October 2026. Their own site has what is current.
Missing something you need?
Our vision for Chapel Screen is nothing to install, slides made automatically from any content, and professional output to every screen and channel at once. We know that doesn't cover everything. If we're missing the one thing that would let your church move, or the Bible translation you use, let us know at support@chapelscreen.com.
Moving to Chapel Screen
- See it working. A demo service is playing right now: change its theme, put a passage or a song up, and watch it on your phone too, with no account. Watch the live demo
- Start the free trial. Sign in with your email address, create your church's team and start 30 days of the paid plan from the church's settings, with no card. Still paying for FreeShow? We can extend the trial until that subscription ends, so you don't pay twice. How to ask for a longer trial
- Bring your songs. Over 3,000 songs are built in. Import the rest from CCLI SongSelect downloads, ChordPro charts or OpenLyrics files, with their copyright notices kept exactly as they are. Importing songs
- Bring your presentations. Paste the words into the editor and Chapel Screen makes the slides, or ask an AI assistant to build a presentation from a PowerPoint file, your notes or an online Bible. What an AI assistant can do
- Set up your look. Start from a built-in theme, or make your church's own with its colours, fonts, background and corner images, shared with every team. Creating a theme
- Invite your team. Volunteers join by email and start preparing the next service together. Teams
